Why JAVA?
The question might arise: why did I choose to learn Java instead of another programming language, like Python? After conducting thorough research, here are a few points that guided my decision.
Widely Used and Established:
Java has been a cornerstone in the tech industry for decades. A significant portion of the world's software continues to run on Java.
Strong Community Support:
Java has a vast and active community of developers, which means a wealth of learning resources, tutorials, and forums are available for beginners and professionals alike
High in Demand:
Java is a sought-after skill, particularly in the banking and finance industries. Its use in enterprise applications, Android development, and large-scale systems makes it one of the most reliable and time-tested programming languages.
Tools and platforms like Hadoop, Jenkins, and ElasticSearch, which are widely used in DevOps and Big Data, are built using Java.
While I still use Python in my production environment—primarily for automation tasks due to its extensive libraries—it excels at activities like backing up configurations of networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls), interacting with databases, retrieving output in JSON format, and much more. Below is a comparison to help clarify any doubts.
By learning Java, I can position myself to work with many of these essential tools, bridging the gap between development and operations in DevOps environments.
